Update-Art

well.. after a spring break filled with repainting parts of my house, getting new drapes selected and hung, and then a quick three day trip to the family and friends close to the coast.. and then with another week filled with visiting with the Ms who are visiting from Colorado, I have had little time to post.

I have also stared working on my art again. I have begun a name "Macy" that is in a Chinese Garden theme.. (photos later).. The next one will be Miranda with "the seven ancient wonders of the world" as the theme. Both of these should be great fun to do!
For some of you .. you have no idea that I have been doing "name art" for a year and half or so. I take the persons name and they select a theme, or idea and I get to just be creative... I have decided to try and get a website or blog set up for my art, and hope this summer to get back into doing murals. (I must first finish the kids room and I would like to do a few more in my house before this summer.)
This is a name I did almost two years ago(?) wow.. how time flies.. This has quite a bit of religious symbolism that I found through research I did via the library (yes one of my favorite places to go!) I wont go into the symbolism in this post but all the letters with images, lantern and ink well are all symbolic. .. The Bible in the background has the customers favorite chapter of the Bible. This is done in colored pencil and took atleast 30 hours to finish.
This is Catherines name. This was one of the first names I did. From working on this piece I learned a lot about my "hidden" talents (most of which I hadnt used in 9 years). I had never drawn a camel or a giraffe.. from this I learned I need to use the talent God has blessed me with.

The kids and I have a big day today. The library, the fire station, and skate and bowl. It should be fun. I have lots of pics from our trip etc and will try and post those this weekend.

Artfully yours!

Pictures: Happy Birthday Daddy!

Here's Daddy opening the coupon for "cleaning out your bar-b-Q grill"

Here's Daddy, LOVING his Bar-b-Q tool set.

We had a hard time getting all those candles lit! (45 candles lit at once is hard work!).. Hehe.. just kidding honey.. (37 is hard too!)

Did you ever wonder how much smoke 37 candles puts off when blown out? Here's your answer.

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you.. (you definately deserve more than a Bar-B-Q set.)

Pictures: My Chairs

Before: Oh these are so sad.. I put a cheap fabric on these to use during art camp last summer.. needless to say.. they arent what they could be:
Here's Joseph and Nathan helping. They are taking the screws out so the seats can come out:
Here is Catherine cleaning the marker, paint and probably a little pb&j off the chair frame:
And here my friends is the after picture. Started this project at 3pm and ended about 10pm.. with a little brake in between for supper. I put new foam and a layer of "quilt" padding, fabric, and plastic. Joel helped with the plastic, he was great at getting the plastic stretched so tight the wrinkles on the corners wouldnt show. I have put old english on one of the chairs to cover the scratches but need to finish the rest. I LOVE having the plastic cover.. well worth the 2.75 a yard to protect the 22.00 fabric! Nathan put it to the test last night.. the food just wiped off! Tonight we will go and buy new curtains for the back door.. just doesnt quite go with the flowered curtains we have :)

Just a short post

(Another change for my blog.. I am on a quest to see if I can make my blog look as great as some I have seen out there..this requires learning a few tricks in compter stuff.. so please bare with me as I learn how to do this... hopefully I wont mess anything up too bad.. except for your eyesight :))

We have been doing great.. getting ready for Spring! Its in the air around here and I think i will try and plant flowers this weekend.. yipee..

We had a garage sale this past weekend and I didnt think I ever would but I sold a tv I had since I was 13. It was a great, 13 inch black and white turn dial, oh the hours of tv I watched on that thing .. even had a few "knots landing" parties in my room at college. But.. after holding on and on.. it was time to let go.. The man that bought it seemed to really appreciate it.. so I figure.. why have it sit in the attic for another 15 years when it could go to a great home.. Must have been the fly lady in me.. Letting things go so they can bless other people. Great memories with that old tv.

I finally recoved my dining room chairs.. I do have before and after photos I will try and post in the next few days.. needless to say after approx 6 hours of recovering.. my hand and arms .. even my neck was sore.. those poor thumbs of mine have never had such a workout. :) Good news is .. the man at the hardware store thinks the screws from our chairs are from the 1930s.. so maybe we have a great table on our hands.

I am off to see if I can mess up the template on my blog anymore.. also.. trixy is crying at the back door needing in.. duty calls :)

Its late I Know

I know I know.. I should be in bed.. really I should.. but .. a little too much caffine and I am back on the dorm schedule.
Joel and I got to go on a date tonight and it was fun. Movie and then Olive Garden. (thanks NaNa and PawPaw for staying with the kids).
I am sitting here listeneing to everyone snore, I think even the cat and dog are snoring. It is so quiet it seems my key board is WAY to loud! I thought i would post a bit a bout what the kids have been up to

Joseph: He read 72 sight words for me today, and has a major loose tooth. He did is first chain stitch in crochet and got a bit frustrated when it took a bit of practice. He is always seems to answer some random math question quicker than I can think of the answer (usually, he definatley has a nak for math) and wakes up ready to do his bookwork right away. Tonight he fell asleep in bed with trixy at his feet. And was the first to give me a big hug when we came home tonight. He set the table at lunch today and was REAL excitted cause they got to drink 7up. He is soo excitted about skate and bowl tomorrow.

Nathan: He needed to recheck "fun with dick and jane" book today at the library cause he is only half finished with it. He has pink eye, but has no problem with getting the drops in them. He says his eyes dont even hurt. (I think he is just trying to be real tough).. He has said a few times this week "Mom, the trees and us are good for each other..." I say .. "really . how" he says "well we breath out what the trees breath in and the trees breath in what we breath out.. so we are good for each other".

Catherine: She decided to figure out how to crochet, and tonight NaNa crocheted her a purse.. she loves it! She also was excitted about the new bed skirts we bought at walmart today. And she decided that she still wants to share a room with her brothers. (I asked her again this morning if she was ready to have her own room and she decided no.. she liked being in the room with her brothers).. ahh.. sweet memories.. i know these days arent going to last forever.

The kids love being together. They make such a good team. I am blessed to have them and to get to spend my day with them!

I am so blessed!
