fun things today
Thought I would post some fun things that happened in the last few days.
* The kids riding in the car with friends reciting poetry. (verses from "science verse" .... like Jack be nimble.. jack jump over..the combustion reaction of 02 plus heat plus fuel to form CO2 plus light plus heat plus exhaust" )
* The kids riding in the car singing "I got the JOY JOY JOY down in my heart"
* Jo repeating over and over the words in the above song: "I got the love of Jesus down in my heart" (like for 10 minutes)
* Cat saying in response to having to clean house .. "I wish we had a button we could push to get the house clean".
* Jo adding: " I wish Daddy had a button he could push to pay the bills" ( Dad had to go to work today.. for a little bit.. it is Sunday)
* Daddy relating the kids basketballs and their different sizes to Goldilocks and the three bears.. (that was a cute story).
* Cat making a Frankenstien head out of a bowtie pasta she was eating.
* OH>> our gladiolus are BLOOMING! (oh thats so fun)
* the hours of fun the kids had with the new marble works construction set we bought yesterday at a garage sale.
* Listening to the kids discuss infinity.
* Being able to bench press 75 pounds six times in a row.. (look out 100 lbs here I come), and shoulder press 20 lbs 6 times!
* Riding my bike with Cat.
* Going to the ACU library and finding great books for my sculpture camp that starts tomorrow. (also finding my old art history book that I had when I took art history in college.. of course when I was done with the class I threw it away cause I was so sick of that crazy class.. little did I know how ever many years later I would LOVE art history!)
* As I was showing Daddy the great recipe in the Eating for Life Cookbook for strawberry cheese cake.. Cat saying "Mom, (as she was looking at the picture) .. they are using MARKETING on you!"
here's a few not so fun things:
* The laundry is still there
* dog or cat poop on your foot or on your 4 year old foot and wondering.. "where is that smell coming from.. .. its here.. no... its here.. now its in this room Mom.. .." oh.. Mom finally figures out.. its the sweet four year old.... It is amazing how just a little bit of dried poop on a foot can stink up a whole room).. (OF course to the bath we went the whole time Nate saying.. "its not my foot!"
* The birds eating the almost ripe tomatoes off the vine :(
* Nate scraping his finger on the brick outside
* Cat stepping on a rock and cutting her foot (her response to not wearing the shoes which were right beside her: "I didnt want to get them wet")
* Nate waking up at 2 o'clock everynight crying (cause he needs to tee tee)
* Those silly chickens I bought and put in the freezer and keep forgetting to take out to thaw (I am going to do that right now)
* Learning about Mad Cow.. (Daddy joked when I spoke of buying ground turkey for our speg. " hope it doesnt have mad turkey disease :)"
* the fact that I am sitting here doing this instead of cleaning like I am spose to :) ...

Sun Shine IN, Wasp and letter F
The kids and I were in the kitchen. They were sitting at the table, I was making lunch. I started singing.. like I usually do. The song was "let the sun shine in.. face it with at grin... blah blah.. open up your heart and let the sun shine in".. so there I was singing.. kids looking at me listening to the words. When I was finished.. Nate says in a most profound tone.. "MOM>. if you open up your heart you will die!".. .. well of course this led to a conversation as to how we have two hearts, I asked and the kids answered "your body and your heart that's part of your soul." I was like "wow!" pretty cool answer.. Later we were discussing it again and I asked Jo and Nate.. which is more important.. the body and its heart or the soul and its heart.. both answered.. "the souls heart" (AHHHH what a blessing to be around these precious kids!)
(Story #2)
I was out front watering the yard and Jo walks outside with the letter F encyclopedia.. He says: "Mom, can you help me?.. I am trying to find FISH .. I found the letter F but I cant find FISH in this thing anywhere!" .. I said.. sure.. (putting down the hose).. as I was searching I asked.. why are you looking for FISH.. he said.. "Cause I wanted to know about the fishes eyes.. why they work better under water than ours do." .. (ok.. I think.. wasnt expecting that to be the answer..).... so sure enough under FISH was a section on eyes.. I read the section .. he said.. "thanks" and took the book back into the house. I must say.. I was so happy that Jo had a question and new where to look for the answer.. the 10.00 I spent on the encyclopedia set was WAY worth the money. ( If you are wondering how I got a virtually new world book set for 10.00 .. check out your own library's annual book sale.. No one buys encyclopedia sets anymore!)
Story #3)
So here I was sitting talking to my sweet friend K on the phone when Cat runs in on the verge of tears.. says "MOMMMMMM... I got bit by a wasp!!!!!!" ... OH NO! .. She was across the street playing in the neighbors front yard while daddy was working in the garage when she got stung on the hand while swinging in the swing. Now can I tell you how impressed I was with my sweet daughter.. she is in pain and crying but as she said "Mom, my adrenalin was going and I just held my hand tight and ran home.. of course I looked both ways before I crossed the street!" .. I was so proud of her .. what great self control that showed.. she held back the majority of her tears until she reached Mom, .. uh.. my little baby girl is just growin up!
as for me.. well.. same oh thing around here.. working out.. (havent missed a workout in 5 weeks!!!!!) .. and still behind on laundry. I will tell you it is now official.. I am OFF BEEF.. did you hear.. Mad COW.. oh and the same night I had brisket and chips.. UHG>> ... K.. so back on the Veggie diet for me...
Well I am off to bed.. I am hoping tomorrow I can get some more work done on the mural I STARTED in the kids room. It is going to be a country seen on three walls, and sky and clouds on wall and ceiling and the outside of a rustic cabin on the other wall.. I would like to have it finished by the fourth but well see.
And can I say I am SOOOOO thankful to be at home. The stories about the kids above are what I would have missed if I wasnt here... its too special to miss.. They are only young once. I am definitely Blessed to be HOME!

OK.. we are outside the kids are playing in the pool and nathan gets out and sits down by me on the concrete porch. He says : "wow.. the patio is hot mom." I said yeah I know.. I said.. "what makes it hot?" he said.. The sun.. I said.. "what makes the sun hot.." (of course thinking he would answer.. the fire on the sun makes the sun hot.. but no).. Nathan said.. "Well, Mom, its all those gases that are on the sun and those are on fire and it makes it really really hot!" I was so surprised! What a great concept for a just turned 4 year old.. (and he is cute too :)
Yesterday Cat found out I was going to the library and wanted to go with me to get some Emril Lagasse Cook books, of course she came home with 20 others as well.
Joseph has been improving on his reading and really building more confidence. He read a book to Cat the other night and came into the living room to tell Daddy and I what he had read.. He was so proud.. :) (and of course so were we!)
I thought yesterday on the way home from the library I would share with you some of the books and Movies I have lOVED from the library...
Janette Oak is a writer my friend E told me about, she has a series of books out and one is called Love Comes Softly. The library had it on dvd and I watched the movie and cried and cried.. soooo good.. SO of course my next course of action was to check the book out.. got it yesterday. E said the book was even better than the movie.. cant wait..
I found some great books for the kids on Art and artist.. One is call Giotto.. and is the story of the man people call the Grandfather of Italian art.. Also.. Michelangelo Surprise.. a true story of Michelangelo when he was a boy..
IF you have kids that like to be in the kitchen.. or you do.. Emrils books are great.. there is one called "there a chef in my soup" and another called "theres a chef in my family" both are kids books but have GREAT recipes.. (loved the blueberry muffins)
The next book I am reading to the kids is called the Treasure Seekers by E. Nesbit.. Nesbit was CS Lewis' favorite fairy tale author.. the book was first published in 1899.. cant wait to read it.. starting it tonight!
Update on my body for life journey.. I measured last night and after 4 weeks of lifting and running and watching what I eat.. I have lost 4.5 inches from my waist chest, thighs, and hips.. I tell you folks.. IT WORKS! ..
I guess I should go get the house in order.. friends are coming over this afternoon as the guys go play video games :)
More later

Well.. long time no write huh
Well.. long time no write huh? The old blog gets put on the back burner along with the laundry when art camp comes around. I can only do so much it seems.
Life in this blessed house is going great at the moment. I have been working out (on program) for four weeks now and can really see the changes in my mind and body. It is amazing to me how so much of this is mental. I had decided to refuse to look almost 40 .. which you know is getting closer and closer every year. I got the body for life for women book from the library and if you havent you MUST get it and read it.. so good. I can tell I am a different person when I am in "training" it relieves stress, makes you stronger (which helps with taking care of the kids etc) and of course increases your self image. If you havent worked out today.,.. do something, break a sweat.. you will be better for it! and so will your family!
Over the past few weeks lots has been happening around here. Our anniversary came and went. (15 years!)
Wow.. I still cant believe its been that long. Time goes by so fast! I am just so thankful for such a wonderful husband and friend. I am soooo blessed! We celebrated a few days early and went to see Star Wars and out to dinner. Had a GREAT time.
We finally got our flower beds finished in the front and side yards, mulched and everything. It looks so much better and feels great to be able to cross that off our list of to dos! Our garden is going good, tomatoes are growing bigger and I will have them out my ears in a few weeks I am sure. (homemade spaghetti sauce yum!)
I had a week of art camp last week. I had 11 kids (not including my own). We studied the renaissance. It was great. The kids painted their own frescos, made their own relief sculptor and built their own eatable domes. We studied Michelangelo, Leonardo, Gioto, and others.. I love art camp but it is a lot of work and am thankful I have another week to get things back in order and ready for the next one which starts on Monday. It seems my laundry suffers the most, so I am back to trying to conquer the pile again!
The kids are doing great. Daddy got them a swimming pool for the back yard and they have really enjoyed splashing around. He also brought home a basketball goal from Cousin K and they have LOVED shooting hoops with Dad. I have still had issues with remembering some of the things the kids say and ask.. guess I need to write it down on paper so I dont forget before I blog. The main thing is they have been enjoying each other and all thier creative play is great to hear! (right now someone is aquaman, as the water turns on in the bathroom)..
Well. The house is waiting and I need to get supper planned for tonight.
I think the kids are going to play in the pool a little and I might have to stick my feet in to.. its sooo hot outside :)
