Sick of being sick- getting on my Nerves

Well I thought is was over. I thought we were finished with it.. but NO.. last night 1230 Jo wakes up running to the bathroom. I cant figure out what is going on these days. Of course you all know the kids got strep throat a few weeks back (Cat and Nate), and then right after that Dad got put in the hospital with a virus, that was all about three weeks ago. Cat got sick this past Saturday night.. it lasted 5 hours, a day later she was back to normal. I thought it was finished, and when Jo and Nate started in about 3 am Tues. .. it lasted for 5 hours, THEN I thought surely we are finished.. well last night, Jo starts it all again. He is fine so far this morning, eating popsicles and ice. Of course I am using DR Pepper to stay awake :) .. reminds me of the dorm.

We havent been "sick" in so long and I sure hope this is our share for the year. I am so very thankful we are well most of the time.

I have not been working out like I would like to these days. Seems like lately keeping up with the laundry is a workout in and of itself. I did set a goal that I have been keeping pretty good.. "fold it while its still warm" .. there is not much more refreshing than putting a WARM towel in the bathroom cabinet.. :) (uh.. is that ME talking.. what has happened to me!) ..
Back on the working out topic.. I am looking forward to increasing my running distance. I would like to be able to run 2 miles in 20 min.. right now I am at a mile and a half.. If I am going to run a marathon on my 40th birthday I better get use to running distance.

Things that have been getting on my nerves lately.
TV commercials that make men look like idiots. You have seen them.. the one with the husband dressed as a sun, the two sonic guys just being dumb, I could go on and on.. and I dont watch that much TV.. I catch the news, wheel of fortune, and sometimes a little Oprah depending on what she is showing (you never now with her),
I am sorry too that I dont what to be President, would rather not spend 60 days on an island with men and women I dont know, and I think most of the men I know dont sit around talking in depth about their sonic burger, or dress up in silly sun outfits. I prefer to believe that most men are not dumb blonds, and that dumbs blonds need to stop making TV shows and commercials! :) What ever happened to Leave to Beaver.. I miss WARD! .. What happened to the Waltons! A Dad who Loved his family and would do anything for it.. uh.. time warp please!

Materialism.. oh now I cant live in this world and not be materialistic to some degree.. but does it really matter if my purse came from a garage sale instead of Sam Moon (A lady stopped and asked if I got it at sam moon.. nope.. paid $2 at a garage sale !).. Dont people see that companys make things for soooo cheap and then ask you to pay top dollar for it.. I say wait ,, be patient and you will find it or something better at a garage sale or other discounted place. And another word about spending money.. why do people insist on purchasing their own books.. every city has a library, with Thousands of books, why would someone knowingly spend 20-30 dollars on a book when they could get it for FREE at the library. Also.. buying volumes of books for children who are reading a series.. like Hank the Cowdog, or Magic Tree House, whatever.. They read it.. Their done with it.. it sits on the shelf.. I say... GO TO THE LIBRARY! .use the extra money to give to missionaries..

So that is my two cents for today.. I know most people probably think I am crazy.. but the world screams at us everyday.. spend spend spend.. and men are idiots.. I REFUSE to believe it! (SFWOOO I FEEL BETTER :)

Comments:
Whew! Glad you got all that off your chest, Ruthie! =)

Sorry about all the sickness. Glad you guys are usually well, though. It will pass soon enough.

I agree with you about the materialism, and let me tell you, I live in a very materialistic town. I am always proud to say that I got this shirt for $5 or those shoes for $8. I love finding a bargain because those are the things that tend to last longer anyway!

I also agree about the library. Yes, I will admit, there are some books that I own that I just wanted to own, but I really don't have that many. And...you can get books on TAPE at the library! I love doing that. And...you can get videos and DVDs at the library! We have hardly rented any movies anymore because of this, plus I just record movies off TV that we want to see (plus the language and other stuff is edited for us).

So, you're not crazy! Or maybe you and I are both crazy! =)

I'll be praying for you guys to stay well! I hate when my kids are sick too, it seems like I can't get anything done and I just get so worried about them.

I'm a thrift store--garage saler myself, but I have to say that there's something about owning your favorite books.. I had some as a kid that I read over and over again... they were like my close friends. Do I sound crazy? :) We borrow a lot from the library but I also set aside some money for books they love, because they just build this relationship with their favorite stories. Does Abilene have a Half Price Book store? We love ours...

no half price books here.. if I have book that i really want as a keeper then I tell joel and he gets it off ebay or half.com.. he finds great deals.. I am not saying dont buy books at all.. we own a few ourselves.. but I know some people who NEVER go to the library.. they think book.. they think.. Hastings, ..

It is interesting in our consumer driving world that some people look at going to garage sales, thrift shops etc as being "lower class" .. isnt that sooo soo sad. Makes me sad for them.. I want nice things but I refuse to pay full price :)

k .. so what book was your favorite that you read over and over.. I have to know..
